create fun .exe files

Learn how to create fun .exe files to send in emails as greetings and messages to your friends.  You can add music to them and choose how you want it to "float" on the desktop.  You can even add hyperlinks.  When you click on the message, it will send the recipient to the url you want.  It's so simple to do you'll be creating many of these for fun as birthday greetings, anniversary cards, whatever you like.

Download the zip file which contains an animated quill and a blank scroll for you to fill in your own personal message.  Save these two files into a folder where it will be easy for you to remember.

Open up Gif Animator 5.   The Startup Wizard box will appear.  Click on "Open an Existing Image File".

Startup Wizard

When the Open Image File box opens, browse to where you saved the exe-quill.gif (animated quill) and exe-scroll.gif background from the zip file.  Click on the .exe-quill.gif to highlight it and click Open.

Open Image Files

Three frames of the animated quill are now imported into Gif Animator 5.

Imported animated quill

Go to File, Export, As Animation Package (EXE).

Export as Animated Package (EXE)

The Export Animation box will appear.  The Message Box Style has may backgrounds for you to choose from to place your messages on.  Highlight one of the message boxes and the Import Style function and Enter Message Box becomes functional.

Click on Import Style and browse for the folder where you saved the exe-scroll.gif.  Highlight it and click Open.

Import the scroll background

The exe-scroll.gif background is now imported into your Message Box Style.  By default, your completed .exe will be saved to your C:\WINDOWS\TEMP folder as seen below in Generate Executable File.  For easier access it's best to save this to a folder where you want to save your .exe files.

 Export Animation Package

Click on the box at the Generated Executable Files and browse to where you want to save your .exe file.  Name it exescroll and click Save.

For this tutorial use the values shown below.  Loop Count: 3, Go to URL:  put in a url of your choice.   Start Frame Position:  Top Right.  End Frame Position:  Center.   Leave the Message Box at default dimensions.  Place your message in the Enter Message box.  You can change the font (click on the tab font), and the font color.  You can always vary where you want to place your Start Frame and End Frame by clicking on the dropdown menu and choosing the effect you want.

Export Animation Package....add a url, music and your text

You can add midi or .wav files to jazz your message up by clicking on the box at Select Sound File.  Browse for your favorite midi or wav, select it and click Open.

Once you're satisfied with your message, Click OK.  An Animation box will pop up.  You can click OK, or choose Show Me and view your .exe right away.

View your .EXE file

You can create your own animation and message background to send for special occasions.
